As a professional organizer, I understand the challenges that come with keeping a home office or traditional office space organized and clutter-free. I offer home office and office organization services to help you create a workspace that promotes productivity and efficiency.

The Cluttered Home Office Problem

Working from home has blurred the line between where work stuff lives and where everything else lives. Papers pile up on the desk, cords tangle behind the monitor, and supplies end up scattered across the house instead of in one place. For busy professionals, a disorganized office isn't just an eyesore, it slows you down every single day. We begin with an assessment of your workspace, taking into account your work habits and preferences, then build a customized plan around how you actually work.

Paper Management & Filing Systems

Paper is often the biggest source of office clutter, mail, receipts, files, notes. We help you build a filing system that makes sense for your workflow, so documents have a clear home and you can find what you need without digging through piles. If paper is your main issue, our dedicated paper management services go even deeper on this.

Desk Organization & Workflow Setup

We create a system for managing your office supplies, equipment, and paperwork, organizing your desk, bookshelves, filing cabinets, and any other storage in the space. The goal is a setup that supports how you actually work, not just a space that looks tidy for a day and falls apart by the following week. Once your office is organized, we provide maintenance tips and strategies to help you keep it that way.

An Example of Desk Organization & Workflow Setup

We create a system for managing your office supplies, equipment, and paperwork, organizing your desk, bookshelves, filing cabinets, and any other storage in the space. The goal is a setup that supports how you actually work, not just a space that looks tidy for a day and falls apart by the following week. I went through this exact process myself. When I first started this business, I used a desk that also held our family printer in our guest bedroom, then moved to a small desk in front of a window so I could enjoy the view throughout the day. A few years in, I realized my needs had grown well past my storage. I had bags and boxes of business cards, brochures, and organizing supplies stashed under the desk, along with a growing pile of client contracts, new partner paperwork, receipts, and tax documents with nowhere to file them. I was barely fitting at that tiny desk anymore.

One useful question to ask yourself if you're drowning in office clutter: do you actually have enough furniture or storage space for what you need to keep? In my case, the answer was no. I ordered a larger desk to spread out on, tucked a double file drawer cabinet underneath it, and added a small rolling storage cabinet under my old desk to corral loose items. I moved the extra organizing supplies to shelves in the basement, close enough to grab when needed, but out of my daily line of sight, which is exactly the kind of appropriate long-term storage we help clients set up too. The final touch was an upgraded, genuinely comfortable chair I actually want to sit in. Organizing the environment was a game changer for my own home office, and we'd love to help you do the same.

FAQ

How long does an office organization project take?

It depends on the size of the space and how much paperwork and equipment is involved, but most home offices are completed in one to two sessions. We'll give you a realistic estimate after seeing the space. If you have many papers to go through and file that will take significantly longer. It can take about 2 hours per bankers box of papers. It takes time to skim each piece of paper in order to categorize and file it. Often we help clients set up the structure and then they choose to manage the filing themselves. Other times we can flip through piles of mail and quickly identify and toss junk mail to streamline what you have to do on your own.

Can you help with a shared home office?

Yes, we regularly help set up systems for offices shared by multiple people, or spaces that double as a guest room, craft area, or something else.

Do I need to be there the whole time?

It's helpful for the initial decision-making around what to keep, donate, or discard, but once we've built the system together, we can often handle setup and organizing independently if that works better for your schedule.
